From Alex Kontorovich -
Dear friends,
I hope this email finds you well. As exciting as my summer has been with traveling, performing and teaching all over the world, I’ve returned home with a harsh reminder of the song “Abi Gezunt” - if you have your health, thank your lucky stars. My grandfather and a close friend from high school and college are both sleeping in hospital beds tonight, and as you are probably already aware, earlier this summer we lost German Goldenshteyn. There is little I can do for the former beyond praying and visiting, and, well, it’s too late for German.
In an effort to repay German’s family for his years of tutelage, the world’s top klezmorim have agreed to join me in a memorial concert benefiting his widow, Mina. We cordially invite you to strap on your dancing shoes and come find out why German’s 1000-tune repertoire is notorious for filling the dance floor. Let’s show the Goldenshteyn family that, although German is gone, his influence is everlasting (I’m sure they’d reverse the trade in a heartbeat if they could).
